Hi,

I'm a longtime N series user, dad bought me a 9N when I was 10 years old. Now have 8 older tractors, 3 are Fords.

I bought a 2N a few years ago, with a Sherman unit and a Ford 930A finish mower.

I noticed that the left rear is a little loose, it seems that the rivets on the axel flange have loosened up a bit. IMus'm assuming they are rivets, the heads on the outside are domed like rivets. It must be an uncommon problem, never heard of this before. Seems that the axle shaft assemblies are not easy to find. Can I remove the axle, heat the inner rivet end with my oxyacetylene torch until read hot, and then reset the rivets with a blacksmith hammer on my anvil? I'd like to use the tractor to plow 5 acres this fall to put in alfalfa, but not with a loose wheel. Like to hear from anyone with any experience with this.

thanks,

Hugh
