The axle on a 2N are riveted to the brake drum, no threads, so not interchangeable.

Sorry, I really am a dufus.  Trying to figure out how to post.  But I'll try here...

I bought an 8N a couple years back (*8N31560*).  From a crook.  But he isn"t a crook if the buyer is a dufus, right?  Anyway, leaky axle seals, saturated brake shoes.  When I went to remove the axle nuts, I discovered the nut on the left side is a 2" hex, 1 1/4 fine thread shaft.  The right side is a 1 5/8 hex, 1 1/8 coarse thread shaft.  Yikes!  On top of that, the brake plate assembly on the left side is marked 8N-2213B (no such # in master parts catalog), which may or may not be for a 9N.  Is it possible a PO could have kludged up a 9N axle and parts on the left side?
