The Crossfire kit contains no mufflers.  It instead uses two large echo tubes.

The stock carb has an adjustable main jet to get your mixture "just rite" with your new exhaust system.

For the price of this kit, the power increase was not worth it.  The sound change was considerable though.

An MSD multi spark box can be easily set up to work on an "N" series FORD. if the coil is replaced with an "external coil" adapter.  I would go a Pertronix electronic conversion too.

In March of 2009 I took delivery of my remanufactured 1953 Ford Jubilee from N-Complete. I have had this tractor for 31 years. As part of the process I had the Cross Fire exhaust installed.  This sysytm is GREAT!! I don't know exactly how much added horse power there is but it is noticable and the sound from this system is something else. My neighbor thought I had some kind for race car in the garage when I fired it up. Also, I met a gentleman that has an 8N with this exhaust and it's realy COOL to listen to it idel.

I saw these things, but without changes to carburation I don't see how it could increase power that much.Having said that,if a person wanted to have more fun out of their tractor, then Isay go for it !To get much more power, you would have to replace the primitive ignition&fuel systems.Ihave often wondered how one would run with a custom made intake with a couple of small weber or SU carbs&a 4pipe exaust system on it ,but you are still stuck with the ignition.

Well I really do not have a answer but i too have been thinking about that dual exhaust which they say will make my early 8n ford sound like a really big tractor. I am somewhat mechanically inclined but my brother is mechanical. I guess i would like to see some feed back on this system. if i have to change a lot of thiings around i will opt just for a basic system to replace mine when it is finally shot. hopefully someone will have some comments on this exhaust system. i know they say it will increas horse poer but i really do not think a few horse over the 20 to 23 i currently have will make that much a difference. however i do like the sound deal.

Forgot to add my comments to the above post.

I own a 1949 8N and it is in need for a new exhaust manifold, as the one on the 8N is the original factory unit.  I have two choices... replace with a manifold from N-Complete #LP-9N9425WG with two gaskets for $69.09, plus I need a new muffler and exhaust pipe.  That will run another $36.93.  For a total of $106.02

OR  I could go this route... buy this "New" Crossfire Dual; Exhaust muffler and pipe kit for $385.00.  Which includes the manifold, gaskets, pipes and tubes...(what are the tubes for?)  There is nothing mentioned of any mufflers with this kit.

My big 2 cent question... Has anyone here on this forum or elsewhere bought this Crossfire Dual Exhaust system?  If so,  how does it run?   Great, Average, or poorly?   Also,  is there room/space for the carb. air intake tube to fit?

Thanks for your comments.
