Take out plugs and pour about 1 oz.trans fluid in each one&let sit overnight. This should loosen up crud on rings and make them seal up.Minimum comp is 90psi,but many run for years on less. You need to find out if the problem is valves or rings. The valves could be burned, bent,or stuck. It is possible to clean valve train from below by accessing by way of valve covers behind manifolds.lha

I am trying to get the tractor started that I acquired from that sat in the barn for about 5 yrs. Have changed oil, fuel. checked distributor and spark,  ovh carb., engine turns over with starter. Compression is 75 psi on all cylinders. My question is what is the absolute minumum compression needed to start and keep the engine running? Looking for answers before my worst fear, is overhaul the engine.

Thanks R
